The signings that can save Arsenal's season?

New Stoke signing Jese scored just after half-time on his Potters debut to condemn the Gunners to their first defeat of the season, the 1-0 scoreline a stark contrast to Wenger's side's 4-3 thriller against Leicester just eight days previous.

It was a rollercoaster of a game, but Arsenal nicked a late victor at home to Leicester City last Friday to kick off their Premier League campaign with a win. We still expect Arsenal to be too strong and continue their good start to the season.

Wenger also confirmed that Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez, who trained with the team in London on Friday, will be available for their next game, Sunday's visit to Liverpool, after being linked with a potential move away from the club.

"I think he did try", said the manager. "He was out with a muscular strain and hopefully he will survive the tests first before he comes back".

Arsenal travel to the bet365 Stadium this weekend for a meeting with the club's one time bogey team Stoke City.

Alexis Sanchez will be anxious about Arsenal's defending, Robbie Savage says.

Wenger was criticised after that game for fielding a back three that included two left-backs in Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac, with Per Mertesacker on the bench and Rob Holding left out of the squad all together. His goal was poached just after half-time and with Arsenal looking sluggish to the fact the match had re-started, the second consecutive week where concentration and focus seems to be an evident weakness for Wenger's toiling five man defence.

He added: 'Last week we conceded two goals on corners and they only had three shots on goal, so I don't believe we defended so badly. "When you lose a game you lose a game, but we did not only lose only today because of bad defending", he said.

'I believe it's the kind of night when you are angry because not only did we not score with the chances we had, but we made stupid mistakes centrally (for their goal).we made a stupid mistake for the goal and we were unlucky with some decisions'.

Gerrard was speaking as a pundit on BT Sport and said: "He's left me frustrated - we've seen him on his day when he fancies doing both sides of the game he is a world-class talent".

All of the pressure in the closing stages continued to come from Arsenal but despite Wenger making changes to his frontline, the North Londoners were struggling to create any more clear-cut chances.
