The Cincinnati final between Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep will be played on Sunday August 20.
Kyrgios, an Australian, had only two break chances and failed to convert either during the final, which lasted 1 hour 25 minutes. The aggressive play from Halep was relentless in the second set and she broke early once again.
Sloane Stephens (+67, No.151 to No.84): As she continues her comeback from a long-term foot injury, the American made her second straight Premier 5 semifinal at the Western and Southern Open. She had beaten Serena Williams at Roland Garros in 2014 and 2016, and she knocked off Angelique Kerber while winning Wimbledon this year. Pliskova has final points to defend there, Halep only quarter-final points-and the Romanian trails the Czech by just five points.
Garbine Muguruza pumps her fist on her way to victory in Cincinnati. She saved three match points before breaking in the 12th game, then led all the way in the tie-breaker.
After wins against big servers Juan Martin Del Potro and John Isner, Dimitrov put that experience to use as he frustrated Kyrgios often throughout the match with his speed and backhand slice. After a few deuces, she had a second chance when Muguruza netted a backhand, but the Spaniard come up big on break point, crushing a forehand which she followed into the net for an easy volley victor. Serving for the title, Muguruza cruised, holding to love.
Kyrgios will face David Ferrer, who won his only match of the day - 6-3, 6-3 over fourth-seeded Dominic Thiem. Simon won only 42% of balls on first serve and won only one of six break points. The percentage from her side was pretty high, as well.
Cambridge University Press reverses decision to block banned articles in China
CUP said they chose to comply with Beijing's request in order to prevent other contents or materials from being blocked in China. But Millward was just one of a number of prominent academics to blast Cambridge's move.
Muguruza clinched the win when the top-ranked Pliskova sailed a forehand long on the fifth match point. As her head began to drop, especially after failing to break at 0-3 down in a long game with her only break point opportunities of the match, it really became a foregone conclusion.
However, Muguruza, who is ranked No. 6, did not have her serve broken the entire match.
Muguruza needed only 56 minutes to grab her second title so far this year, after coming out on top in Wimbledon, reports Efe. Halep fell to 1-3 in 2017 finals and 15-11 career.
Both women will have a chance to claim the number one ranking at the upcoming US Open.
