Third time lucky for 'How I Met Your Mother' spinoff

How I Met Your Father has found a new writer.

How I Met Your Mother's anticipated spinoff series How I Met Your Dad is getting a rewrite.

According to Deadline, Bennett will pen How I Met Your Father as part of her overall deal with the 20th Century FOX TV, written on spec and with no studio now attached.

The original script was written by HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas as well as Emily Spivey. Though the studio took another chance at it last broadcast season with This Is Us co-executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, things didn't quite shake out, as Aptaker and Berger's responsibilities on the drama series became more serious.

Haase will face the victor between second-seeded Roger Federer and Roberto Bautista Agut in the semifinals on Saturday. Shapovalov sprayed a forehand wide and it gave Zverev a third chance to close out the match and he did.

"We're always on the lookout for fresh, new voices, and Alison's work on You're the Worst has been incredible", said 20th TV President of Creative Affairs Jonathan Davis when Bennett's deal was announced.

"The studio will try [developing a spinoff] with different writers", Fox Television chairman Dana Walden told Deadline. "If it's the right idea the right execution, we'll take that".

20th TV is taking a similar route with the proposed new spinoff, again called How I Met Your Father, which Bennett will write under the overall deal she signed with the studio in April.

"She is completely original, hilariously amusing and a big, big talent", he said. In this case, it will be a mother telling her story, with much of Bennett's own personal experiences added to the plot.
