Iran, UN call for political solution to Yemeni crisis


Besides, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, said on Saturday that Iran supports all the efforts by the United Nations to put an end to the war in the crisis-hit Yemen.

They also stressed the need for efforts to relaunch political peace talks in the Arab country and provide humanitarian aid for the people of Yemen who are facing starvation and are buckling under a blockade.

In a meeting in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed discussed the latest developments in the country that is reeling from a deadly Saudi aggression.

Senator Ben Sasse criticized Trump on Friday night for the president's remarks made earlier in the day in New Jersey. Maduro has said the constituent assembly is the country's only chance at securing peace and prosperity.

He also called on Iran to support the UN's efforts in this regard.

The Iranian diplomat expressed deep concerns about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

Jaberi Ansari further highlighted the framework proposed by the Islamic Republic for political resolution of Yemen crisis and the principles which need to be considered in the path to settle the issue.
