Jones also said four external advisers "were of the view that there is substantial and persuasive evidence supporting a finding that (Elliott) engaged in physical violence against (the alleged victim) on multiple occasions during the week of July 16, 2016". But the league concluded otherwise after a long-running investigation, and now the Cowboys must confront the reality that they will be without Elliott for a portion of the regular season, provided the NFL's punishment stands.
Goodell had the option of simply noting that Elliott was "in violation of the league's personal conduct policy". Even though the charges in the court of justice have been dropped, the National Football League decided that they need to conduct an investigation and decide whether or not Ezekiel Elliott should miss some time on the field because of his actions off of it. The manner in which the suspension occurred should be more concerning for the Dallas Cowboys. His appeal will take place ten days after it is filed and Dallas and Zeke are both hoping to get the suspension reduced. Elliott & his reps are "extremely disappointed". The NFL Players Association released a statement Friday saying it is reviewing the decision and has been in touch with Elliott and his representatives to consider all options.

Yahoo's Charles Robinson reported that Elliott "is willing to take this whole suspension appeal through courts if he has to".
£36million-man claims signing for Liverpool is an age-long dream move
The 25-year-old winger won his side a penalty before going on to score a goal of his own in Liverpool's 3-3 away draw to Watford. Salah produced some outstanding performances for Roma last season, which earned him his high-profile move to Liverpool.
The Cowboys have already matched their entire win total from last year's preseason with their win in the Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals, so anything at this point will be an improvement from last year. The decision has been made. That would have been the case, he said, even if Elliott had not been under investigation.
The NFL however does hold the power to penalize a player without legal charges. Just winning any game at the Coliseum was a step for the Rams, who lost the final six home contests of their relocation season last fall.
"I have reviewed everything, and there is absolutely nothing - not one thing - that had anything to do with domestic violence", Jones said during the team's training camp. Just two years ago, McFadden was a top 10 running back for rushing yards so you can draft him up in fantasy as your backup.
