Bryce Harper Leaves Game vs. Giants with Knee Injury

Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper slipped on the first base bag attempting to beat out a grounder, injuring his left knee in the bottom of the first inning of the game Saturday night against the Giants at Nationals Park. There had been rain in the area and there was speculation that the base was wet.

If the injury is as bad as it looked, the Washington Nationals' postseason chances may have just taken a serious hit.

He was replaced defensively by Brian Goodwin, who shifted to right field with Andrew Stevenson taking Harper's place in the lineup. He had seemingly returned to MVP form in 2017 after a down year in 2016, playing like the 2015 version that was named National League MVP at 22 years old.

He is among the National League's leaders in batting average, home runs and RBIs this season.
