Arsenal offer Alexis Sanchez mammoth £300000-a-week contract

As Paul Radley noted in his preview, Arsene Wenger has done much to dampen the disquiet of the more vocal Arsenal fans who were baying for his departure after a lacklustre 2016/17 campaign.

Should Sanchez's move to the Parc des Princes be completed, PSG could end up spending around £440 million on three players.

Wenger is said to be willing to risk losing Sanchez on a free transfer next summer, rather than sell him to a rival team for his estimated value of £50m.

"Even if Sanchez went, I still think they'll have a little bit of quality".

"But we have all the other players prepared in pre-season and they are all ready".

Has Sanchez played his final game for Arsenal with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City still reportedly interested in signing him?

The current contract Sanchez with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2018.

Wenger said the Chile worldwide would miss Arsenal's home fixture against Leicester City on Friday as well as the trip to Stoke City on August 19.

Stocks level out after North Korea-fueled slide
The Dow Jones industrial average slid 204.69 points, or 0.9 percent, to 21,844.01, just shy of its low point for the day. Germany's DAX Index fell 0.6%, the UK's FTSE 100 Index retreated 1.2% and France's CAC 40 Index slid 1.4%.

But the Gunners boss has also publicly stated he remains confident both Ozil and Sanchez will remain at Arsenal for the upcoming season.

When asked if Arsenal have received any bids from PSG for the 28-year-old, Wenger replied: "I can not tell you that".

"Yes", Wenger said in July, as quoted by The Daily Telegraph.

After nearly 12 months of speculation surrounding Sanchez's future the end-game doesn't appear to be in sight.

"He added: "[PSG] are looking for Mbappe, that's what I read in the papers.

"To win like we did will only strengthen it and overall we have good ingredients in the squad and it is a good opportunity again to show it away from home".

It's little wonder some of Europe's elite might look to poach the Chile worldwide after Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season. Why hasn't he just said I'm staying for one more season?
