United in talks with Ibrahimovic about striker staying

"He wants more football at the highest level so we are having conversations and discussing the possibility of him staying for the second part of the season". United have been linked with moves for Inter's Ivan Perisic and Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, as well as full-backs Danny Rose (Tottenham) and Serge Aurier (PSG).

United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham on Sunday, having won six of their seven pre-season friendlies.

"He's injured. He needs time to recover", United manager Jose Mourinho said on Friday. Victor can play right-back and centre midfield.

However, Mourinho added that one key factor to their title charge at Old Trafford will sharing the scoring load amongst numerous players, as was the case at his previous clubs, and hopes the onus will not be left exclusively on the shoulders of new striker Rolmelu Lukaku. "It's not something urgent, it's not something we're desperate to have done or not done".

"But we have lost important players to injury too, such as Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic".

"We have the confidence levels of a team who won a European competition".

"I understand the reality of the market, of the numbers and that my club by doing 75 percent of what I initially asked did very well". I'm not in a position of crying, of moaning, protesting.

Hernandez is now likely to make his Premier League debut for the Hammers against his former club and said of the Red Devils ahead of the game, "It was a great experience [there] ... only happiness". I'll just go with everything I have to try to win every match we play.

Mourinho says he is after another player "coming from the sides" to complete his summer business - leaving the door open for either a winger or a full-back.

"The other 25 percent (of the transfer targets) will be another player playing from the sides. But we have players and if we can not strengthen the team in these areas, we have players that we trust".
