Spanish nationals killed in India road accident


Seven Spanish citizens were injured and were hospitalized.

Five persons including four Spanish nationals were killed and three critically injured in a road accident at Punganoor in Andhra Pradesh today.

Reports said the accident took place in the Eedigapalle village of Punganur Mandal in the Chittoor district. Police rushed them to hospitals in Chittoor.

It is said that the foreigners were part of developmental activities, initiated by the Rural Development Trust run by a group from Spain, in a village in Anantapuramu district. The deceased have been identified as Moran Molinillo Josefa, 65, Pedrosa Gijon Francisco, 31, Lopez Navarro Maria Nieves, 62, Perez Moreno Vicente, 50 and their driver Sadiq Vali, 49. The spot where the accident occurred presented a gory look with the luggage of the visitors strewn all over the highway and the shocked foreign nationals stuck in the van. He started the Trust in 1969 in Bathalapalli in Anantapur district to serve the poor of Anantapur, Srisailam and Kurnool areas of Rayalaseema region. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the accident and directed officials to take up rescue work and extended all possible help from the government.
