J&K Police Apprihends Lashkar-e-Tayiba Helper

Sandeep Sharma, a part of Lashkar module has been apprehended by Jammu and Kashmir police from Muzaffarnagar distrct of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Sharma is a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police today busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba module and arrested a man who has been identified as Sandeep Sharma alias Adil. "Later it was revealed during the investigation that he was part of OGW network of LeT". "How they are plundering and looting banks and ATMs and funding militant outfits as well as themselves", he said.

IGP said Sandeep Sharma was detained for questioning after he was arrested from the house where Bashir Lashkari was killed. His arrest led to the capture of Muneeb Shah. Recently, Bashir Lashkari was eliminated. It raised the fingers of suspicion. "In these crimes, they worked in conjunction with Lashkar militants in south Kashmir", Khan said.

"While working in Punjab, he came in contact with one Shahid Ahmad, a resident of Kulgam, who was also working in Punjab".

Lashkar terrorists were helped by Sandeep to loot ATMs in Kashmir. He also concealed weapons looted from Police guards in a vehicle and shifted them to different locations on the directions of LeT.

The gang met LeT terrorist Shakoor Ahmad who utilised Sandeep's "expertise" in looting ATMs.

"That was the beginning of all these criminal activities". He was also involved in cases of weapon snatching, the IGP said.

The Hockey India has filed an official complaint over match-fixing attempts with the Federation of International Hockey (FIH).

"Sandeep was staying with Bashir in the same house", he said.

"Sandeep along with some other associates were arrested at PP Mir Bazar in a robbery case sometime in March 2017 and remained in judicial custody until he was bailed out", Khan stated.

Investigation is going on for ascertaining the roles of his others associates in the crimes.

IGP Kashmir said the investigation is in process and the duo has been arrested.

"Criminal elements are joining militancy for their personnel gains".

"Consequently, he joined hands with Lashkari of LeT and soon became his key aide". According to police, Sharma was rescued along with other members of the family by the police during the encounter. It's a new scenario... It is a cause of concern and a challenge which we have to face in the coming days. "We have to go for in-depth verification of all of them", he said.
