Pokemon Go is celebrating it's one year anniversary with a brand new event. The first details are coming from a fansite which acquired a press release with the details.

This event will be from today until July 13th - a full week. Players will get Incubators, Max Revives, Ultra Balls, and a Raid Pass.

Starting today, July 6th, at 1:00 pm PT, Pokémon Go players can capture a special Pikachu that'll have the same hat worn by Ash in the Pokémon animated series.

Flash Flood Warning Issued for Southern Maryland
Arlington County is under a flash flood watch until 7 p.m. tonight, with the rest of the D.C. metropolitan area. Warnings have also been issued for Darke and Preble Counties until 2:45 pm.

The first glimpse of anniversary content was seen in data-mined information from a recent update, which showed a possible anniversary event in the works. He'll keep the hat, too, so it can be a special addition to your collection. Will it be the same Pikachu or a different one? "We love the idea of using mobile games as a motivation for families to play outside together and perhaps to learn something interesting while they are at it!" added Niantic CEO and founder John Hanke. Instead, we get another Pikachu variant and a box of items that costs money. Fret not, however, trading precious Pokemons with your buddies, and individual player battles are still in the cards - it just takes Niantic six months more to introduce a suite of grand new features than they initially planned. But we had to redirect a substantial portion of the engineering team to [work on] infrastructure versus new features.

Some features in the game differ from the original road map. But I guess it's impossible to easily top what has been rolled out in the major update.
