Megan Anderson on Cyborg title fight: 'It's my time to shine'

Cris "Cyborg" Justino and Megan Anderson will fight for the newly-vacated women's featherweight championship at UFC 214 on July 29.

Cyborg had been begging to get her shot to fight on the July card with the only hesitation being if she could get cleared from her positive USADA test earlier in the year.

In May, de Randamie, via her management team at Suckerpunch Entertainment, said that she would not entertain a fight with Cyborg over accusations of performance enhancing drug use.

Being that the UFC essentially created the division for "Cyborg", de Randamie's refusal to defend her belt against the clear-cut number one contender forced the UFC's hand in stripping her of the belt.

Foto dell'aggressore "a terra, privo di sensi" sono circolate fin da subito dopo l'attacco sul web. Secondo BFM TV l'uomo era noto ai servizi di sicurezza e portava nell'auto una bombola di gas.

The UFC also revealed that Germaine de Randamie had been stripped of her featherweight title after refusing to face Cyborg.

"UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport", the organization announced in its statement.

Anderson, 27, is 8-2 as a professional and she has won four straight fights, all by KO/TKO, since a submission loss to Cindy Dandois in 2015. She defeated Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg via TKO in her first two bouts, needing only three total rounds. "Instead of fighting someone who has lost their last couple of fights at a lower weight, I'm getting the chance to fight the No. 3-ranked featherweight in the world".

"I am fighting at a more natural weight", Cyborg said. I honestly believe I'm the best in the world and I'm the only one that has the skills, the ability and the fight IQ to beat her. Her most recent bout was a win over Charmaine Tweet at Invicta FC 21, which gave her the interim featherweight championship in that promotion. UFC 214, which airs live on pay-per-view, takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and is headlined by the anticipated light heavyweight title rematch between Daniel Cormier and former champ Jon Jones. "I'm going to show everyone that she's human, she's beatable and that there's a new face in the division". The UFC eventually elected to strip her of the title and basically start over.
