At least for the time being, Whole Foods' retail stores will continue to operate under the same brand name, there won't be any immediately noticeable differences for shoppers, and there are no plans to lay off Whole Foods workers, either.

Whole Foods had fiscal 2016 sales of about $16 billion. Certainly, it would appear to Cantillon that Bezos sees the future as slightly more nuanced than the vista of couch-bound online shoppers ordering everything from fast food to films online. He says he's excited to try out whatever they offer. Customers are assigned a personal shopper who scours the aisles, purchases and delivers items from retailers like Whole Foods.
