In April 2006, Hodgkinson was charged with misdemeanor battery after he stormed into a neighbor's house in an attempt to force home a teenage girl who, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, was under the guardianship of Hodgkinson and his wife.

While walking out of the courthouse Saturday, Cosby's spokesperson Andrew Wyatt praised what happened Saturday, adding that "Mr. Andy Lassner, executive producer of The Ellen Show , wrote " I BELIEVE YOU" to the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault.

Until recently, Hodgkinson ran a home-inspection business out of his house in southern IL.

"The 99 per cent are getting pushed around and the one per cent don't give a damn", said Hodgkinson in the 2011 video.

At the YMCA, Hodgkinson was nondescript: he always wore black trousers and golf shirts, sometimes beige, sometimes gray, sometimes black.

Stephen Brennwald, another YMCA member, said he never saw Hodgkinson talk to anyone and figured the man was a "loner". He thought about asking a staffer about the man but never did, he said.

While in Alexandria, Hodgkinson regularly visited Pork Barrel, a BBQ restaurant in Del Ray, Alexandria.

Rep. Jeff Duncan of SC said he had just left the practice and encountered the apparent gunman in the parking lot before the shooting. He always drank alone, and always drank cans of Budweiser - sometimes just one, sometimes as many as six, said Kristina Scrimshaw, a bartender at the restaurant.

On Tuesday, Hodgkinson broke his apparent silence at the garage.
