Things are getting worse for the two pop stars as Taylor has chose to release her entire music catalog on all streaming services, especially Spotify, on the same day Katy releases her new album "Witness".
While fans are celebrating, many are speculating that Taylor's return also has something to do with the fact that her nemeses Katy Perry will be dropping her new album, "Witness", on Friday. The posts explain that Swift's music is returning in celebration of her most recent album selling 10 million albums worldwide, plus, RIAA's 100 Million Song Certification. Swift only allowed Apple to stream her fifth studio album after the platform made a decision to pay artists royalties during its free three-month trial. In 2014 she removed all her music from such outlets, saying, "Piracy, file sharing, and streaming have shrunk the numbers of paid album sales drastically". Ironically, Taylor's pop rival Katy Perry will also be dropping her new album Witness on streaming services at midnight on Thursday.
Last month, Perry finally confirmed that the two have been beefing for years, and it looks like Taylor may have responded to Katy telling their business in her own unique way.
It just happens to be the day that Katy releases Witness and tickets for her United Kingdom tour go on sale. "Please don't ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation", she had written in an open letter in early 2015.
