- Family and friend gathered Saturday in Macon to bid their final farewells to music legend Gregg Allman. He was interred at Macon's Rose Hill Cemetery, where his brother Duane - who died in 1971 as a result of a motorcycle crash - is also buried. He announced August 5 that he was "under his doctor's care at the Mayo Clinic" due to "serious health issues".Funeral arrangements had not been finalized Saturday. The last few years have been hard for Allman Brothers Band members and fans. They will include former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who confirmed Friday that he'll be among those in attendance.

The Southern rock pioneer died May 27 at the age of 69 after a long battle with liver cancer.

Ahead of Gregg Allman's funeral, Cher revealed that she had to get it together before the memorial service in Macon, Georgia.

Cher and Allman were briefly married in the '70s and share a son, Elijah Blue Allman.

Pickup trucks were backed up in at least one of the two designated public parking areas near the old Hilton hotel and across from Rose Hill Cemetery where the 69-year-old will be buried near his brother, Duane and bandmate Berry Oakley.

Rock musician Gregg Allman's Saturday afternoon memorial service in Macon, Georgia, drew friends and family members, including his ex-wife, Cher.

Canadian 'impacted' by London terror attack
On May 22, a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured dozens at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, in northwest England. Earlier on Sunday, British Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the "evil ideology" behind the London attacks.

"We always enjoyed the band's music and Gregg was always my favorite one", said fan Gary Turner, 62, who attended the procession with his girlfriend.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Allman was the brainchild behind The Allman Brothers Band, which Duane was also a part of.

Although Allman was born and raised primarily in Nashville, Tennessee, Macon held a special place in Allman's heart: The band found fame while recording at Capricorn Studios in Macon, and often performed live in the city. But hepatitis C had ruined his liver, and after getting a transplant, it was music that helped him recover.

The photos of Cher attending the service are just heartbreaking to look at, as you know she is struggling to come to terms with the death of her ex-hubby.

"He was looking forward to sharing it with the world and that dream is going to be realized", Lehman said.
